Shea Butter Baby Soap

This soap are for my friend Pete, she have her newborn baby on the way~May'13
No fragrance oil or essential added.

Almond Sweet Lavender Soap

I done this recipe for twice.

Coconut Oil
Palm Oil
Olive Oil
Almond Sweet Oil
Alkanet Infused Oil

1st time ~ bottom get crack while cut. I thought maybe because of the water. (1.5% of water)

2nd time ~ 2% of water. A bit soap compared to 1st batch

For this small mold, there are fine! Maybe because of the temperature!

Evening Primrose Soap

I love cold weather at the same time I hate them too. My skin became dry and itch, expecially during the night.
I add 20% of Evening Primrose oil in the soap to moisturize my skin while enjoying my shower.

Coconut Oil
Palm Oil
Olive Oil
Evening Primrose Oil
Rose Geranium Essential Oil

Start Date : 16/4/2013

Add some Alkanet Powder the soap turned out light grey

Ash Ash Ash

I am not sure whether you face this issued before....
I do.... I face Ash on my soap lots of time.
I tried to work it out the problem's and find a solution ~ of course I did ask MR.GOOGLE .
I think there are a few things may cause Ash!
  1.  The temperature is under 40degree , normally  I keep my Lye water and Oil stayed at 45~50degree. Then    mixed together
  2.  Not Trace enough
  3.  A big gap of  temperature  when you put in form box or keep warm.

I just moved to Australia about a year,  this was a 1st time I made soap under different climate. Malaysia 365 days summer. Australia 4 seasons country. So, this is a big challenge for me.

For POINT 3. from my experience, when the soap keep in form box the soaps will continue warm up it self and the temperature will raise even overnight. Next morning you can feel warm outside the form box.
I started my soap on Autumn season, the room temperature at night maybe 18~23degree. Even though I put 2 glasses of hot water into form box , still not effective!THE MOTHER EARTH IS STRONGER THAN THE OTHER

The soaps still can used if there is a Ash on the surface, just not perfect as usual....
If you want your soap to be perfect .... I tried this.... STEAM for 1min 30 sec....
1. Turn high heat to boil the water.

2. Put your soap on plate and steam in low heat.
3. Must open a little bit of your lid let the steam heat come out....

Remember.... Over steam will cause your soaps became SMASH

Re-batch Soap

This is the 1st time I have this problem, after  a night the soap became like a MUFFIN...
Yes, this batch of soap totally not set probably. Instead to let the bin smell good, I decided to rebatch the soap ~ Hot Press.
What im going to do with this rebatch soap?
Actually we still can used for body, but they look ugly!
Or you can used for Household Soap to wash your dishes.

Muffin Look...

Break up all the Muffin Soap and put in a large sauce pan. Oh yea... must double boil!

After 40min the soaps turned gel and yellowish.... Keep cooking and let them cook longer.
How long to cook this? I took about 1hour 30min, medium heat.

After cut... the rebatch look like this! Yeah....

MayChang Shea Butter Marseilla Soap

After all of the causes... Muffin / Ash...
I tried to used other method to do my soap.
There is LOW TEMPERATURE MIXED.
What is that?!?
This time I do not heat up my oil, when the Lye water became transparent
Pour in Lye water in to oil and stir. I separate into 3~4 times.
Keep string till trace.
